Should I pull the Schrader Cores?
Yes! For a faster evacuation,
- Use a Schrader Core Removal Tool/s.
- Pressure rated for R410A systems.
- Vacuum rated to 20 microns.

What size hoses?
When talking about evacuation hoses:
- Bigger is always Faster (only if Schrader Cores are removed).
- Must be Vacuum Rated.
- Constructed for Low Permeation.
Size vs. Flow (CFM per hose):
- 1/4″ = ≤1 CFM
- 3/8″ = 2-3 CFM
- 1/2″ = 4-6 CFM
- 5/8″ = 8-10 CFM
- 3/4″ = 12-16 CFM

What size pumps?
When talking about Vacuum Pumps, Bigger is not always Faster. Vacuum Pump performance will be limited by the following:
- Not removing Schrader Cores.
- The size of vacuum hose used.
Ultimate Micron Rating = Pump Efficiency
2 Stage Vacuum Pumps must be used for HVAC/R system evacuation.
- Single stage pumps are incapable of achieving deep vacuum.
